The Image of Global Childhood. The Pedagogical Context

The aim of my paper is to discuss the phenomenon of globalization and its consequences for pedagogy, particularly in reference to the child development and childhood. I argue that childhood in an era of the “global village” is specified by some novel, hitherto unknown chances of development and education, novel possibilities of communication, intellectual work, knowing other people and the surrounding world, gathering experiences. The image of childhood inscribed in the process of globalization is presented both in its positive and in its negative aspects.
