The Attitude of the Catholic Church Towards People of Different Religions in the Polish-Lithuanian commonwealth in the Period of Saxon Rule. Problems of Unification of the Society in a Multi-National and Multi-Faith State
In the first half of the 18th century there was launched in the Polish-Lithuanian commonwealth a large scale action of converting the representatives of different religious groups to roman Catholicism. These endeavors constituted a general tendency toward the uniformization of the country also in terms of religion. This kind of activity was characteristic also for other European countries of that period.
