The Processes of Nation-Building in Latin America: A New Model of Integration?
The paper explains the nation-building processes in the context of the theory of social development in Latin America. The author draws attention to spiritual, historical and cultural background of these processes and presents their main theoretical models with reference to the political, economic and cultural specificity of Latin America. The state, together with language, religion, cultural heritage constitutes the most important factor of growing national integration. The nation-building processes in Latin America head towards syncretism, hybridization and cross-cultural awareness of an emerging Latin-American civilizational area.
