On Learning History — Looking a Little from the Side
The article analyzes the is-sues of practicing the science of history on the background of cultural conditions. The prob-lems of constructing and renegotiating collective memory were also considered. Potential causes of these phenomena were indicated. Attention was also paid to the formative nature of history for building the identity of human communities.

W artykule analizowane są kwestie uprawiania nauki historii na tle uwarunkowań kulturowych. Rozpatrywano także problemy konstruowania i renegocjacji pamięci zbiorowej. Wskazano na potencjalne przyczyny tych zjawisk. Zwrócono także uwagę na formatywny charakter historii dla budowy tożsamości zbiorowości ludzkich.
