Cmentarzysko Schmölln w Uckermark
Wykopaliska archeologiczne w pobliżu wioski Schmölln przy autostradzie A11 w Brandenburgii, ujawniły pozostałości prehistorycznego cmentarza o niezwykłym znaczeniu. Obszar położony jest w strefie górnego biegu rzeki Randow, która płynie zarówno na północ do Morza Bałtyckiego, jak i na południe do Odry. Jest to również najwęższy punkt doliny, który tworzy naturalne przejście w kierunku wschód-zachód. Osady koluwialne, które zachowały ponad 20 starannie ułożonych bruzd kamiennych o średnicy do 8. metrów, zawierały pochówki ciałopalne datowane na epokę żelaza. Ponadto, na cmentarzu znajdowały się także neolityczne pochówki szkieletowe z megalitycznym grobem i kilkoma depozytami kości. Niezwykłe i unikatowe dla Brandenburgii jest znalezisko sześciu liniowych bruków kamiennych o długości do 105. metrów. Ten prehistoryczny cmentarz jest przykładem zmian zwyczajów pogrzebowych trzech prehistorycznych kultur, ale pokazuje również, iż pomimo wszystkich tych zmian kulturowych, przez okres trzech tysiącleci, mamy do czynienia z ciągłością użytkowania cmentarza przez lokalną ludność.

The Cemetery of Schmölln in the Uckermark District
Archaeological excavations near the village of Schmölln along the A11 motorway in the Uckermark District, Brandenburg, revealed remnants of a prehistoric cemetery of extraordinary significance. The site is located in the headwaters area of the Randow River, which branches off here northwards to the Baltic Sea and southwards to the Oder River. This is also the narrowest point of the valley which forms a natural east-west crossing. Colluvial sediments have preserved more than 20 carefully laid stone pavings with diameters of up to eight meters, which cover Iron Age cremation burials. In addition, the cemetery includes Neolithic inhumation burials with a Megalithic grave and several bone depositions. Unusual and unique in Brandenburg are six large linear stone pavings up to 105 m in length. This prehistoric cemetery is an example of changes in the burial customs of three prehistoric cultures, but it also shows — all these cultural changes notwithstanding — the local continuity of the burial ground over three millennia.
