Religious and Mad? Islamic Terrorism Through the Lens of Psychological Research
The article presents the issue of Islam-motivated terrorism through the lens of existing psychological research. Basing on available data I try to show the limitations and various interpretations of psychological studies on terrorism, especially in the case of Islam. Basing on an extensive literature overview I focus on the following issues: how to investigate terrorists, and what are the limits of any psychological study; who supports terrorism and whether it is possible to generalize such data; who actually is a terrorist, and what role does Islam play.
