The new concept of „maritime humanities”
The new concept of „maritime humanities” that currently emerges on the international academic stage requires an examination. The aim of this article is to discuss the relevance, novelty and viability of such an approach, contrasting the emergent topics with those formerly examined by the scholars. Maritime humanities tend to resume the problems that evidently had been studied before, but had frequently appeared as mere curiosities or marginal realities. The new seascapes build up conceptual frames in which those formerly irrelevant, minor topics appear as essential elements of the global image.
