City-Station, or on Privincional Wrocław
The paper offers a look at the problem of today’s Wrocław’s identity from the perspective of a discussion launched by Tadeusz Mikulski over the literacy of Wrocław. It considers the extent to which Wrocław’s Europeanness can be conditioned by “provincionality” of nineteenth century literary life. It also shows that the border character of the city, its being a necessary stage of travel amongst Polish greatest Romantic writers’ ventures to Europe, enables Wrocław to render its literary routes the element of its cultural heritage.
