Cultural GPS. Reflections on the Miami Exhibition
The aim of the paper is to present the work of artists who contribute to difficult debates on the major dilemmas of the global world. My starting point is an exhibition titled Global Positioning Systems organized by the Pérez Art Museum. The exhibition’s general message is that though as a result of globalization processes history has come to be commonly shared, the ways of perceiving and responding to the world have not by any means become homogeneous. I analyze selected works exhibited in Miami to conclude that art can mediate, if not agreement, than at least understanding of the position of the Other.
