The City as a Metaphor of Exclusion
The aim of this paper is to present cities as sites of exclusion on the example of certain works originating in popular culture (Attack on Titan by Isayama Hajime, No. 6 by Asano Atsuko and Kino Hinoki, and The Quest for the Missing Girl by Jirõ Taniguchi. Looking at the content of these works and their symbolicism, I demonstrate how the city influences people and forms relations between them. I also discuss the presence of an old European dualism nature-city in the Japanese authors.
