Intangible cultural heritage and the community building process
In the world of intense cultural exchange traditional forms of identity, also at the individual level, are changing. Subject culture is a minority culture or subordinate in social, political, economic or military status to the dominant one. The aim of the article is to analyze the relationship between manifestations of intangible culture and the process of community building. The author argues that the principle of unity in diversity can be the key to redefine axiological European roots and fundament for the European identity. The paper demonstrates global, regional and national mechanisms for the protection of intangible cultural heritage.
