Semiphores of Borderland: From Postcolonial Emancipation to Transcoloniality (Notes from Kuala Lumpur)
The article describes diverse semiophoresas present in the urban space of Kuala Lumpur and accentuates their importance both for the process of postcolonial emancipation: the shaping of the Malaysian nationality, and the transcolonial formation of a larger symbolical network in which Malaysian society is inscribed. The main part of the analysis concentrates on two institutions: National Museum and Islamic Arts Museum of Malaysia.
