The Conception of World Society in Sociological Systems Theory
Global phenomena are described are described with the use of many terms. In the seventies, Heintz, Meyer, Luhmann come up with a theory of world socjety to describe the global system. Is it a phantasm or reality? The article analyzes the shared assumptions of these theories. The author presents the communicative and systemic assumptions of Luhmann’s theory and argues that they allow him to consider world society as a social fact. Modern society is shown here as functionally heterogeneous world society.
