The Fictionalization of Globality. Contemporary Literature and the Reality of Late Capitalism
The article delineates recent attempts on the part of contemporary (American and Canadian) literature to fictionalize and successfully map the realities of global late capitalism. These attempts coincide with what Fredric Jameson describes as a general tendency on the part of cultural production to search for new modes of artistic representation, capable of at least partially overcoming the discrepancy between the current mutation of space and contemporary people’s perceptual and descriptive (in)abilities.
