Postcolonialism and International Security Studies
The article discusses the conceptions of international security in the context of the evolution of these studies in the field of postcolonial theory. Despite being one of the crucial analytical categories of political theory, international security is not a precise concept. And yet it does seem dominated by specifically occidental ideas of security. Assuming a postcolonial perspective in this matter calls for a reflection on the question of how particular approaches to studying security are to be differentiated and categorized independently on the context of their origin.
