Controversies over the Incorporation of Poscolonial Theory into the Field of International Relations
The aim of this paper is to critically examine the role of postcolonialism in an ongoing interdisciplinary debate in international relations (IR). The relative popularity of postcolonialism may be correlated with the process of the diffusion of various approaches from literary theory to the IR which might demonstrate the search for a new paradigm in the post-cold war era. I argue that the plank of postcolonial approaches is the process of hegemonic discourse formation along with the consequences of the approval of certain analytical categories for understanding the social world around us.
