The Indexes of Globalization: The Pros and Cons of Neo-Positivist Measures of the Advancement of Globalization Processes
In my paper I summarize the main points of the methodological debate concerning the naturalist and neo-positivist paradigm of conducting research in the social sciences. Set in this context is the discussion of the basic procedures of building the indexes of globalization. The scores of the index published by “Foreign Policy” are compared with the indexes published by other economic and political journals in terms of similarities and differences. I conclude by showing the possible advantages and disadvantages of such a model of studying globalization.
