Global Structures of the World of Modern Art
The article attempts to answer the question concerning the consequences of the globalization process within the world of modern art. The approach I offer is based on an analysis of four overlapping phenomena: the weakening of the institutional authority of the history of art and the institution of the museum; the problematic fluidity of the notion of art; the growing importance of the market; and the observable changes in the functioning of artistic institutions.
